FHTS Students Gain Industry Exposure at CROSSROADS Maldives

1 October 2026

On 30 September 2026, 66 students from the Advanced Certificate in Hospitality and Tourism (ACHT) and Certificate III in Front Office programmes at the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies (FHTS) participated in a Career Day experience organised by CROSSROADS Maldives as part of World Tourism Day celebrations. The students were accompanied by four faculty members.

The visit provided students with an opportunity to gain practical industry exposure and deepen their understanding of hospitality and tourism operations. The main highlight was a familiarisation tour of three properties at CROSSROADS Maldives: SAii Lagoon Maldives, Hard Rock Hotel Maldives, and The Marina. Through the tour, students explored different hospitality environments and gained insights into the facilities, services, and guest experiences offered by CROSSROADS.

The experience allowed students to connect their classroom learning with real-world industry practices, while developing a better understanding of service delivery and hospitality operations. It also provided opportunities to strengthen essential employability skills, including communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills, contributing to their academic and professional development.

The programme also included a World Tourism Day cake-cutting ceremony, making the visit both an educational and memorable experience for the students.

The initiative highlighted the value of industry – academia partnerships in bridging the gap between classroom learning and professional practice. Such collaborations create meaningful opportunities for students to engage with the tourism industry, gain practical knowledge, and enhance their career readiness.

FHTS extends its sincere appreciation to CROSSROADS Maldives for organising this valuable experience and supporting the development of future hospitality and tourism professionals.
