As we enter a new era, Maldives has seen the birth of new concepts like democracy. Journalism is the 4th pillar of democracy, so there is a great need to produce well versed, unbiased journalists who can serve the country and play the important role of making the other three pillars accountable for their actions. As the Maldivian journalism industry grows, and as demand for quality journalistic content in the press increases, it is imperative that the country hosts a journalism degree program educating students in professional standards, skills, and practices.
