The Maldives National University (MNU) conducted a Fire Safety Awareness Session and Emergency Drill for students residing at Edhurukaleyfaanu Dhanaal on 11 November 2025. The programme aimed to strengthen students’ knowledge of fire prevention, emergency procedures, evacuation protocols, and personal safety.

Facilitated by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), the session combined theoretical guidance with practical training. Students learned about common fire hazards, appropriate emergency responses, and the importance of remaining calm during emergencies.

A practical fire drill was also conducted, providing students with hands-on experience in following evacuation procedures and responding safely to emergency situations.

Students reported increased confidence in responding to emergencies and recognized the importance of being prepared for unexpected incidents.

The programme strengthened students’ awareness of fire safety and emergency preparedness, contributing to a safer residential environment. It also highlighted the importance of proactive risk management and personal responsibility in maintaining safety within student accommodation facilities.
