Bachelor of Nursing and fifth-semester Advanced Diploma in Nursing students from the Maldives National University Kulhudhuffushi Campus conducted health assessments for Grade 3 students at Afeefuddin School.

The visit formed part of the students’ Community Health Nursing field placement. It aimed to assess children’s health, identify potential health concerns and promote awareness of healthy habits from an early age.

Under the guidance of nursing lecturers and clinical supervisors, students carried out basic health assessments in a supportive, child-friendly environment. The activity provided an opportunity to practise communicating with children and apply community health nursing principles in a school setting.

School management and staff welcomed the initiative and appreciated its contribution to monitoring and promoting student health. They also highlighted the importance of school-based health promotion and early screening.

Nursing students valued the practical experience, which helped develop their assessment, communication and community engagement skills. The visit connected their academic learning with the health needs of school-aged children.

The initiative supported the early identification of potential health concerns while strengthening cooperation between MNU and the school community. It highlighted the value of supervised field learning in preparing nursing students to contribute to community wellbeing.
