The Faculty of Shari’ah and Law at The Maldives National University (MNU) successfully hosted a two-day Professional Development (PD) intensive aimed at transforming legal education, integrating generative AI, and fostering a high-impact research culture.
Led by Dr. Sapna Mohan, Dean of the School of Law at Dayanand Sagar University, the sessions equipped faculty members with strategic insights to navigate global shifts in legal education while maintaining academic integrity and Shari’ah principles.
Investigated into global trends shaping modern law programs, institutional readiness for digital transformation, and the integration of generative AI in legal reasoning. Faculty members engaged in a panel discussion addressing a key question: Should AI fundamentally change the way we teach Law? The day concluded with practical frameworks for curriculum transformation to prepare graduates for modern legal practice.

A strategic discussion mapped out for future research priorities for the Faculty of Shari’ah and Law. The program concluded with actionable strategies for academic leadership, faculty succession planning, and continuous quality improvement.
