The Maldives National University (MNU) conducted a referencing session for students, facilitated by Mohamed Shamoon, Lecturer at MNU Business School. The session aimed to enhance students’ understanding of academic referencing and citation practices and promote academic integrity.
The session highlighted the importance of acknowledging sources accurately, avoiding plagiarism, and maintaining ethical standards in assignments, research projects, and other academic work.
Participants were introduced to key referencing principles, citation techniques, and best practices for organizing and presenting academic sources. Practical examples and exercises helped students develop confidence in applying referencing styles accurately in their coursework and future studies.
Students found the session informative and practical, particularly in understanding how to cite and reference academic sources correctly. The session strengthened their research and academic writing skills while increasing awareness of the ethical use of information.
The programme equipped students with essential skills to produce credible, well-supported academic work and contributed to their academic development and preparation for higher-level research activities. It also reinforced MNU’s commitment to promoting quality education and academic integrity.
