MNU Kulhudhuffushi Campus Strengthens Staff Research Skills through Professional Development Session

The Maldives National University (MNU) Kulhudhuffushi Campus conducted a professional development session on “Conceptualizing Research” on 24th January 2024. Attended by 14 academic and administrative staff members, the session aimed to strengthen their understanding of the research process and build confidence in developing research ideas.

The session was facilitated by Dr. Mohamed Umar from MNU’s Faculty of Education. It focused on the initial stages of research, providing guidance on how to develop and refine ideas into a clear basis for further investigation.

Participants explored key aspects of research conceptualisation, including identifying research problems, formulating research questions and developing conceptual frameworks. The session also addressed the importance of aligning research objectives with appropriate methodologies to support effective research design.

Staff were encouraged to critically examine issues within their professional contexts and identify opportunities for meaningful research. This approach highlighted how both academic and administrative staff can contribute to knowledge creation and institutional improvement through inquiry.

Participants appreciated the guidance provided on developing research ideas and understanding the foundations of effective research design. The session enhanced their understanding of research conceptualisation and increased their confidence in developing ideas and proposals.

The programme supported a culture of inquiry and evidence-based practice at MNU Kulhudhuffushi Campus, encouraging staff to engage in research that contributes to institutional development and strengthens their professional practice.
