Semester 5 Primary Health Care Students Learn in Peripheral Facilities

12 June 2025

Semester 5 Primary Health Care students from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), The Maldives National University (MNU), completed field visits to peripheral health facilities between 18 May and 12 June 2025. The visits connected academic learning with professional practice in healthcare settings.

Working in the field helps students develop communication, teamwork, leadership and health promotion skills and understand how services operate beyond the classroom.

This form of field learning is particularly relevant to graduates who may work in varied island healthcare settings.

The placement supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) through practice-based teaching, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through health workforce preparation, and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by exposing students to service delivery in peripheral communities.
