Nursing students at the MNU Kulhudhuffushi Campus organised a seminar on “Safeguarding Health Care Workers” on 27th May 2024. The event brought together MNU staff, students and staff from Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital to discuss workplace safety, professional rights and protections for healthcare personnel.
The seminar explored challenges faced by healthcare workers and measures to reduce occupational risks, prevent workplace injuries and support physical and mental wellbeing. Discussions highlighted the importance of safe working environments and institutional support in protecting those who deliver healthcare services.
Participants examined infection prevention and control, occupational health and safety practices, and professional rights. The event provided a platform to exchange perspectives on creating safer and healthier workplaces within the healthcare sector.
Attendees appreciated the relevance of the topic and found the discussions informative and practical. Participants reported increased awareness of workplace safety issues and the measures needed to protect healthcare workers.
The student-led initiative encouraged safer practices and greater recognition of healthcare professionals’ wellbeing and rights. It also highlighted nursing students’ role in advocating for a culture of safety, respect and support within their future profession.
