Nursing students from the MNU Kulhudhuffushi Campus conducted a workplace health promotion initiative on 28th May 2024, visiting the offices of the State Trading Organization (STO), Maldives Customs Service and Kulhudhuffushi City Council.
The outreach programme provided staff with basic health screenings and preventive healthcare guidance. It aimed to raise awareness of regular health monitoring, early detection of health risks and the importance of healthier daily habits.
During the visits, students offered personalised advice on nutrition, physical activity, stress management and disease prevention. Bringing these services directly to workplaces encouraged staff to take a proactive approach to their health and wellbeing.
The initiative also provided practical learning opportunities for nursing students. Through interaction with staff from different organisations, students applied their knowledge and developed their clinical, communication and health education skills.
Participants appreciated the convenience of receiving health screenings and guidance at their workplaces. Host organisations welcomed the students’ professionalism and community service efforts, while students valued the opportunity to learn through direct community engagement.
The programme strengthened connections between MNU and local organisations while promoting preventive care and healthier workplaces. It highlighted the contribution nursing students can make to community wellbeing through practical health education and outreach.
