The Vice Chancellor urges graduates to prioritize compassion and care for others during The Maldives National University’s graduation ceremony

The Vice Chancellor, Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam delivered a meaningful and inspiring address at the commencement of the 1st session of  University’s graduation ceremony. 

In her opening remarks, the Vice Chancellor highlighted that the presence of a distinguished Chief Guest reflects the nation’s strong commitment to higher education and reinforces the University’s growing role in shaping the future of the Maldives. She also expressed sincere appreciation for the continued collaboration between the Malé City Group of Hospitals and the University, noting that this partnership significantly enhances clinical training opportunities and supports the professional development of students.

Addressing the graduating cohort, the Vice Chancellor reaffirmed the University’s mission to develop graduates who are not only professionally competent but also guided by the principles of Islamic ethics and conduct. She emphasized that true success is rooted in compassion, respect for others, and the ability to integrate knowledge with a strong sense of moral responsibility.

Graduates were encouraged to view education as extending beyond academic achievement, serving as both a moral and social responsibility. They were urged to become sources of comfort for those in need, pillars of strength for the vulnerable, and beacons of hope within their communities.

Reflecting on the University’s continued progress, the Vice Chancellor attributed its achievements to the collective efforts of staff, students, parents, and the wider community. She commended the leadership demonstrated by student union representatives and acknowledged the dedication of academic and administrative staff, describing them as the backbone of the institution.

The ceremony not only celebrated academic success but also reaffirmed the University’s commitment to nurturing responsible, ethical, and capable graduates who will make meaningful contributions to society.
