As part of the FahiMNU community engagement initiative by The Maldives National University, a professional development session titled “Building Capacity in Teachers to Promote Higher-Order Thinking Skills in Students” was held for teachers of HDh. Nolhivaram School, facilitated by 4 MNU staff members.
The workshop aimed to equip educators with practical strategies to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and reflective learning. Through interactive discussions, participants explored student-centered instruction, inquiry-based learning, and effective questioning techniques designed to move students beyond basic memorization.
Teachers reported a clearer understanding of how to encourage independent thinking in the classroom. The programme enhanced educators’ ability to design engaging learning experiences that nurture curiosity, deeper conceptual understanding, and essential 21st-century skills.
