Primary Health Care Students Undertake Peripheral Health Facility Visits

5 June 2025

Semester 4 Primary Health Care students from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), The Maldives National University (MNU), undertook field visits to peripheral health facilities from 9 May to 5 June 2025. The placements gave students opportunities to connect classroom study with the delivery of care in local health settings.

Field learning supports professional skills such as communication, teamwork, planning and problem solving.

Exposure to local services helps prepare students for the realities of care delivery across the Maldives and the communication demands of professional practice.

The field experience relates to SDG 4 (Quality Education) through applied learning and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through preparation for primary care. Exposure to health facilities serving communities beyond the capital also connects to SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
