The Robotics Hackathon 2026: Maze-Solving Challenge was organized by the Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology, The Maldives National University, to promote practical, innovation focused learning among students. The activity required participants to design, build, program, test, and improve autonomous robots capable of navigating a maze within a limited time. Through this challenge, students applied knowledge from electronics, robotics, programming, control systems, sensors, and engineering design while developing teamwork, creativity, problem-solving, and communication skills. The hackathon supports MNU’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by strengthening hands-on and student centred learning; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, by encouraging technological innovation; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through collaboration among students, mentors, judges, and faculty members.
