14 June 2025

Senior Lecturer Qari Mohamed Riyaz conducted information sessions titled “How Can We Learn the Knowledge of the Quran? What Are the Common Mistakes That Contradict Tajweed in Reciting the Holy Quran?” for students of K. Huraa School on 8 March and 14 June 2025.

The sessions aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of the Holy Quran by introducing effective approaches to learning its teachings and improving their recitation through the correct application of Tajweed. Students were guided in identifying common recitation errors, improving pronunciation and articulation, and developing greater confidence in reading the Quran accurately.

The sessions also emphasised the importance of ethical values, self-discipline, respect, responsibility, and lifelong learning. Through practical guidance and interactive learning, students were encouraged to develop positive learning habits and apply their knowledge to their personal and educational development.

The initiative contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4): Quality Education by providing meaningful learning opportunities that strengthen students’ knowledge, literacy, and lifelong learning skills. The sessions supported students in developing their Quranic reading abilities through structured and purposeful learning.

The programme also supports SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by providing students with access to educational and personal development opportunities, promoting equitable access to learning and skills development within the school community.

Furthermore, the initiative aligns with SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions by promoting ethical values, respect, self-discipline, social responsibility, and peaceful coexistence through values-based religious education.

The sessions also contribute to SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening engagement between higher education and school communities and facilitating the sharing of knowledge and expertise to support students’ educational and personal development.

Through these sessions, Qari Mohamed Riyaz contributed to Quranic literacy, accurate Tajweed recitation, ethical development, and lifelong learning, supporting quality education and the broader Sustainable Development Goals.
