Students and staff of the Maldives National University Kulhudhuffushi Campus participated in a tree-planting initiative on 5th June 2024 to mark World Environment Day. The activity took place within the campus grounds and on a plot allocated by the local council.
Participants planted a variety of trees and plants to enhance green spaces and contribute to environmental conservation. The initiative highlighted the importance of biodiversity and the role of green spaces in creating healthier, more sustainable communities.
The activity also provided an opportunity to learn about climate change, sustainability and environmental stewardship. Students and staff were encouraged to consider how individual actions and collective efforts can support environmental protection.
Participants appreciated the opportunity to contribute directly to conservation efforts. Working together strengthened their sense of environmental responsibility and encouraged greater involvement in caring for their surroundings.
The initiative added greenery to the campus and community while reinforcing MNU Kulhudhuffushi Campus’s commitment to sustainability. It demonstrated the value of practical participation in promoting environmental awareness and building a greener future.
