MNU Nursing Students Explore Environmental Health through Field Visit to WAMCO Kulhudhuffushi

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Nursing and Advanced Diploma in Nursing programmes at the Maldives National University (MNU) Kulhudhuffushi Campus visited the Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) Kulhudhuffushi Work Site as part of their Community Health Nursing field visit.

The visit aimed to enhance students’ understanding of environmental health and the importance of effective waste management in protecting public health and maintaining a clean environment.

During the visit, WAMCO representatives explained waste collection, segregation, transportation, and disposal processes. Students also observed the work site and gained insights into the operational practices involved in managing waste and maintaining environmental cleanliness.

The visit helped students understand the relationship between waste management, sanitation, disease prevention, and community well-being. Students found the experience informative and appreciated the opportunity to observe waste management operations firsthand.

The field visit strengthened students’ knowledge of environmental health and highlighted the importance of collaboration between healthcare professionals and environmental service providers in promoting healthier communities.
