MNU Kulhudhuffushi Campus Supports Senior Citizens’ Health and Well-being through Community Health Screening

The Maldives National University (MNU) Kulhudhuffushi Campus participated in the Senior Citizens’ Day 2025 celebrations held on 3 October 2025 in HDh. Nolhivaranfaru. The event was dedicated to recognizing the contributions of senior citizens and promoting their health, well-being, and social inclusion.

The programme was organized by the HDh. Family and Children’s Service Centre in collaboration with the Maldivian Red Crescent. As part of the celebrations, School of Nursing students studying at MNU Kulhudhuffushi Campus conducted a health screening programme for participating senior citizens.

The screenings provided basic health assessments and health awareness support, helping participants better understand the importance of preventive healthcare and maintaining their well-being. The activity also provided nursing students with a valuable opportunity to apply their clinical knowledge and practical skills in a community setting.

Senior citizens appreciated the opportunity to receive health screenings and guidance in a welcoming environment. The organizers also commended the nursing students for their professionalism and dedication throughout the programme.

The initiative supported the health and well-being of older adults while raising awareness about preventive healthcare. It also strengthened students’ practical experience in community health promotion and patient interaction.

Through this engagement, MNU Kulhudhuffushi Campus reinforced its commitment to community service, healthcare education, and supporting the well-being of senior citizens. The programme highlighted the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and community organizations in building healthier and more inclusive communities.
