Local author Niuma Mohamed has generously donated copies of her poetry collection, “Suspension” to the Maldives National University (MNU) Library.
Niuma serves as Lead Instructional Designer at the Centre for Educational Technology and Excellence (CETE). Her poetry explores profound emotions and the different perspectives and experiences encountered throughout life. Through the collection, she seeks to give expression to feelings that often remain unspoken and buried deep within the human heart.
Reflecting on the creation of Suspension, Niuma explained that writing has long been a means of supporting her mental well-being. Rather than sharing her experiences directly with others, she often found comfort in solitude and writing. Over time, these reflections developed into poems and eventually became a published collection.
The poems in Suspension are arranged as an emotional journey. The collection begins with the bond between two people, progresses through periods of silence and discomfort, and concludes with acceptance, contentment and the ability to let go.
The addition of this publication to the MNU Library collection will further enrich the Library’s literary resources and provide readers with greater access to locally authored works.
MNU Library sincerely thanks Niuma Mohamed for her generous contribution and for supporting the Library’s efforts to preserve, promote and share local literature and knowledge.
