The Faculty of Arts, The Maldives National University, is pleased to share the participation of Mohamed Hizyam Hamid, a Political Science and International Relations student, in the Strategic Foresight Forum on “Global Competencies for Youth and Lifelong Learning”, held from 12–14 October 2026 in Doha, Qatar.
Organised by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ICESCO) Centre for Foresight and Artificial Intelligence (CFAI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Youth of Qatar, Prince Mohammed bin Fahd University and the Arab Council for Youth, the Forum brought together young representatives from ICESCO Member States, experts and policymakers to explore the future of education, skills development and youth empowerment.
Hizyam represented the Maldives as its sole youth representative, participating in discussions and interactive workshops focused on emerging global competencies, the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and possible developments shaping the world by 2040.
Reflecting on his experience, Hizyam highlighted the value of exchanging ideas, learning about emerging developments and connecting with young people from diverse backgrounds. He particularly valued the discussions on artificial intelligence and the future, which provided opportunities to explore new perspectives and consider the skills needed to navigate a changing world.
Participation in international forums such as this enables students to extend their learning beyond the classroom, strengthen their global perspectives and engage with emerging challenges and opportunities. It also provides valuable opportunities for young people to contribute to international dialogue on education, technology and the future of society.
The Faculty of Arts congratulates Hizyam on this achievement and looks forward to seeing him apply the knowledge and insights gained through this experience to his academic journey and future contributions.
This participation supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting lifelong learning and the development of future-ready competencies. It also contributes to SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by providing opportunities for international knowledge exchange and engagement among young people, educational institutions and organisations from different countries.
