The Thenadhoo Book Fair was held last weekend, bringing together local writers, bookshops, and the community to celebrate reading and homegrown talent.

Organised by the Thinadhoo Women’s Development Committee (WDC) in collaboration with MNU Thinadhoo Campus, the fair aimed to showcase publications by writers from the island and encourage stronger reading culture within the community. The exhibition featured books by eight local writers, along with participation from two bookshops operating in Thinadhoo.

According to the organisers, the event received an excellent response, with more than 1,000 visitors attending across the fair.

As part of the programme, a special six-hour book-making session using Canva was conducted, with 30 participants taking part and gaining hands-on experience in creating their own books.

To add to the excitement, a lucky draw was also held for visitors. Cash prizes of MVR 5,000, MVR 3,000, and MVR 1,500 were awarded to the winners.
