At The Maldives National University (MNU), sustainability is not just a goal—it is a responsibility. As the nation’s first and leading public university, we are committed to driving positive environmental, social, and economic change through education, research, and community engagements .
We at MNU recognize the urgency of addressing sustainability challenges such as climate change, marine conservation, and resource management. We believe we are stewards of the environment and thus our sustainability vision is to empower students, staff, and communities to become champions of sustainability for a resilient Maldives through various forms of collaborations and partnerships

Time Higher Education Sustainability Impact Network connects universities from around the world to promote and advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It serves as the foundation for the new THE Sustainability Impact Ratings providing a platform for universities to measure, benchmark, and share best practices in their contributions to sustainability, fostering collaboration, and enhancing their global impact.
MNU is a member of this network since 2025 and stands to access a global network of HEIs working towards sustainability across the world. In doing so MNU through this network can gauge its sustainability initiatives with global metrics on SDGs.
