Open Day at The MNU

21 August 2025

The CFOS Open Day at MNU serves as a vibrant showcase of the College’s contributions to marine research, education, and conservation. The event brought together students, staff, and the wider community to explore ongoing projects, view displays, and learn about the diverse programs offered in marine science and environmental management. Through these interactions, visitors gain a deeper appreciation of the ocean’s importance and the vital work being done to protect it. The Open Day also inspires prospective students by highlighting the exciting academic and career pathways available in marine and environmental fields. From interactive exhibits on coral reef restoration and turtle conservation to demonstrations of oceanographic tools and aquaculture techniques, the event offered something for visitors of all ages and backgrounds. Staff and current students were on hand to share their experiences, answer questions, and explain how their work addresses real-world challenges facing the Maldives, such as climate change adaptation, sustainable fisheries, and marine biodiversity loss. By opening its doors to the public, CFOS reinforces its commitment to community engagement and ocean literacy, demonstrating that marine science is not confined to laboratories and lecture halls but is a shared responsibility that benefits the entire nation.
