MNU Thinadhoo Campus joined a special Teachers’ Day appreciation event organised by the Faculty of Education and FESA on 14 October 2026, celebrating the contribution of lecturers and recognising future teachers currently studying at The Maldives National University.
Faculty of Education lecturers and students studying at MNU Thinadhoo Campus joined the celebration virtually, connecting with the wider University community for an event dedicated to recognising the important role of educators in teaching, mentoring, and shaping future generations.
The event was attended by members of the University’s senior leadership and featured addresses highlighting the significance of the teaching profession. Dean Nadhiya Ahmed delivered a speech during the programme, while Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr. Ali Fawaz Shareef, who attended as the Chief Guest, addressed participants and contributed to the appreciation of both current educators and students preparing to enter the teaching profession.
The celebration provided an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication of lecturers while encouraging future teachers to reflect on the responsibilities, values, and positive influence associated with the profession. For education students, the occasion also strengthened their sense of professional identity and connection with the wider teaching community.
The initiative contributes to SDG 4 by recognising the central role of qualified, motivated, and committed teachers in achieving quality education. By appreciating lecturers and supporting students preparing for careers in education, the activity reinforces teacher development, professional identity, lifelong learning, and the importance of effective teaching in improving educational outcomes.
The event also supports SDG 8 by encouraging professional development, recognition, and preparation for meaningful careers in education. Providing future teachers with opportunities to engage with academic leaders and the professional community can strengthen motivation and readiness for their future roles.
The collaboration between the Faculty of Education, FESA, MNU Thinadhoo Campus, lecturers, students, and University leadership further contributes to SDG 17, demonstrating the value of institutional cooperation in supporting teacher education and professional development.
Through participation in the celebration, MNU Thinadhoo Campus joined the wider University community in recognising the contribution of lecturers and encouraging future educators who will play an important role in the development of education and society.
MNU Thinadhoo Campus appreciates the Faculty of Education, FESA, University leadership, participating lecturers, students, and organisers for creating a meaningful occasion to celebrate educators and future teachers.
