In association with the Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology (FEST) and Thinadhoo City Council, MNU Thinadhoo Campus successfully conducted a 16-Hour AutoCAD Training Programme for Building Drawings and BOQ Measurement on 7–8 October 2026 for staff of Thinadhoo City Council and other councils across G.Dh. Atoll.
The hands-on programme focused on strengthening practical technical skills required for preparing accurate 2D building drawings, including floor plans, elevations and sections. Participants were also introduced to dimensions, area calculations, plotting, and the preparation of drawings suitable for Bill of Quantities (BOQ) measurement.
The training was facilitated by Sadat Ali Khan, Lecturer from the Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology, MNU. Through guided exercises and practical application, participants were able to strengthen their understanding of AutoCAD tools and their use in building-related technical work.
The programme was designed to support professional development, technical capacity building, digital skills, and workplace competency among council staff. By focusing on practical applications relevant to planning and construction-related work, the training contributed to improving participants’ ability to prepare and interpret technical drawings more accurately and efficiently.
The initiative contributes to SDG 4 by promoting lifelong learning, technical education, and relevant skills development for employment and professional growth. It also supports SDG 8 through workforce development and the strengthening of practical competencies that can improve productivity and professional performance.
The programme further contributes to SDG 9 by supporting technical knowledge, digital skills, and capacity related to infrastructure and the built environment, while its focus on building drawings and measurement also connects with SDG 11 through skills that can support better planning and development of local communities.
The collaboration between MNU Thinadhoo Campus, FEST, Thinadhoo City Council, and participating councils across G.Dh. Atoll also supports SDG 17, demonstrating the value of institutional partnerships in strengthening local technical capacity and professional development.
Through programmes such as this, MNU Thinadhoo Campus continues to contribute to community development by providing practical, skills-based learning opportunities that respond to local professional and institutional needs.
MNU Thinadhoo Campus extends sincere appreciation to FEST, Thinadhoo City Council, participating councils, the facilitator, and all participants who contributed to the successful completion of the programme.
