Bachelor of Nursing (Semester 8) students of the Maldives National University (MNU) Kulhudhuffushi Campus organized a community health promotion event titled “Thriving Teens: Health Promotion for the Mind and Body” for Grade 8 and Grade 9 students of H.Dh. Atoll Education Centre.
The programme aimed to promote healthy lifestyles, mental well-being, and positive health behaviours among adolescents. Through educational sessions, participants explored physical health, mental wellness, self-care, healthy habits, and informed lifestyle choices. Interactive activities encouraged active participation and reflection.
The event provided nursing students with an opportunity to apply their health promotion knowledge and communication skills in a community setting while contributing to the well-being of young people.
Participants actively engaged in the sessions and activities, appreciating the practical and relatable information shared.
The initiative increased awareness of adolescent health and encouraged students to adopt healthier habits and manage stress effectively. It also strengthened nursing students’ competencies in health education and community engagement while fostering collaboration between MNU and local schools.
