The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies (FHTS) participated in Iskandhar School’s Professions Day, introducing school students to the diverse educational and career opportunities available within the tourism and hospitality sector.

The engagement provided young learners with an opportunity to explore the industry through interactive demonstrations and practical activities. As part of the session, students were introduced to fine dining etiquette and participated in hands-on activities including napkin folding and towel art. These activities provided experiential learning while highlighting the creativity, attention to detail, and professional skills required in hospitality.

By experiencing hospitality practices firsthand, students gained a better understanding of the sector and the range of pathways available through tourism and hospitality education. The interactive approach helped make industry concepts accessible and encouraged students to consider tourism and hospitality as potential future areas of study and employment.

Professions Day also provided FHTS with an opportunity to connect higher education with school-level career awareness. By bringing information and practical experiences directly to the school community, the engagement supported wider access to educational opportunities and introduced young learners to the world of work.

Through collaboration with Iskandhar School and knowledge sharing with students and parents, FHTS helped build greater awareness of tourism and hospitality education and careers. Such initiatives can support the development of young people with the knowledge and skills for the workplace needed for the future of the Maldivian tourism industry.
