Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Nursing and Advanced Diploma in Nursing programmes at the Maldives National University (MNU) Kulhudhuffushi Campus visited the Mental Wellbeing Support Centre at Kulhudhuffushi Public Library and the Community Garden Nursery developed by the Kulhudhuffushi City Council as part of their Community Health Nursing field visit.
The visit aimed to provide students with practical insights into community-based initiatives that promote mental health, environmental sustainability, and overall well-being.
At the Mental Wellbeing Support Centre, students learned about the services and resources available to support mental health awareness and community well-being. At the Community Garden Nursery, they explored how community gardening promotes healthy lifestyles, environmental responsibility, food security, and community participation.
Students appreciated the opportunity to learn about these initiatives and their contributions to community health.
The field visit enhanced students’ understanding of the social, environmental, and psychological factors influencing health. It also highlighted the importance of collaboration between healthcare professionals, local authorities, and community organizations in promoting holistic community well-being.
