MNU Empowers Academic Staff to Build Professional Online Profiles Using AI

26th August 2026

The Maldives National University (MNU) has strengthened its commitment to digital innovation and academic professional development through a hands-on workshop titled “Build Your Professional Online Profile with AI,” designed to equip academic staff with practical skills to establish and maintain a professional online presence without requiring prior coding experience.

The workshop focused on making website creation more accessible to educators by introducing artificial intelligence tools that can support the development of professional profile websites. The programme highlighted how academic staff can use emerging technologies to present their expertise, share educational resources, and make relevant academic information more readily available to students and colleagues.

A central component of the training was exploring how AI can assist with drafting, organising, and refining professional website content. Academic staff were introduced to approaches for presenting their academic backgrounds, areas of expertise, teaching resources, and contact information in a clear and professional manner.

The programme also emphasised the importance of reviewing AI-generated content to ensure accuracy, relevance, and professional credibility. By encouraging careful editing and responsible use of AI tools, the workshop reinforced the principle that digital technologies should support, rather than replace, educators’ judgement and responsibility for the information they publish.

Accessibility and user-friendly website design formed another key focus of the session. The training highlighted the value of creating mobile-friendly online profiles that allow students, colleagues, and other visitors to locate academic information and learning materials easily. These considerations are particularly important in supporting inclusive access to educational resources across different devices and digital environments.

Beyond technical website development, the workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ confidence in using digital tools independently. By introducing practical approaches that do not depend on programming knowledge, the initiative sought to reduce technical barriers and encourage academic staff to take greater ownership of their professional digital presence.

The programme further highlighted the role of professional online profiles in supporting academic visibility, knowledge-sharing, and communication within the university community. Well-organised digital platforms can help educators make their work more accessible, strengthen connections with students and colleagues, and support the wider exchange of academic knowledge.

Aligned with priorities of quality education, lifelong learning, digital literacy, inclusive access to information, responsible innovation, professional capacity development, and knowledge-sharing, the workshop reflects MNU’s continued efforts to equip academic staff with practical digital competencies and promote a more accessible, connected, and technology-enabled higher education environment.
