Lecturers from the Faculty of Education (FE) participated in a training programme titled “Purposeful Learning Design for Blended Delivery”, conducted by the Training Development Unit, Maldives National University (MNU) on 22 October 2025. The programme was designed to enhance lecturers’ knowledge and skills in developing effective and purposeful blended learning experiences.
The training focused on purposeful learning design, the integration of digital and face-to-face teaching approaches, learner engagement, and strategies for creating flexible and effective learning environments. Participants explored approaches for using technology meaningfully within their teaching practices while addressing diverse learning needs and supporting more engaging educational experiences.
The programme contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4): Quality Education by promoting innovative, flexible, and learner-centred teaching approaches that support effective learning across different educational contexts. Strengthening lecturers’ capacity in blended learning design can contribute to improved teaching practices and more responsive learning experiences.
It also supports SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by encouraging the effective integration of digital technologies and innovative learning solutions into education. The development of digital teaching capabilities supports the continued transformation of educational practices and the use of technology to enhance learning.
Furthermore, the initiative aligns with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by promoting knowledge sharing, professional collaboration, and continuous capacity building through professional development opportunities within the university community.
The participation of FE lecturers in the training demonstrates the Faculty’s commitment to innovative teaching, digital transformation, learner-centred education, and continuous professional development, contributing to the advancement of quality education and the Sustainable Development Goals.
