FHS Provides Learning Resources for Children at Fiyavathi

8 March 2025

The Department of Public Health at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), The Maldives National University (MNU), coordinated a community initiative on 8 March 2025 to provide learning resources for children at Fiyavathi. Staff at Fiyavathi had requested materials to support the children’s learning activities.

FHS staff donations and contributions from other supporters funded the items. Fiyavathi staff welcomed the support and reported that the resources contributed to children’s engagement in learning activities. The initiative shows how a specific request from a community partner can guide a practical educational contribution.

The contribution also strengthened the connection between the Faculty and a community organisation serving children with specific educational needs.

By responding to children’s learning needs, the initiative supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). Its attention to children’s wellbeing and the cooperation among Fiyavathi, staff and supporters also relate to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
