Semester 5 Primary Health Care students from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), The Maldives National University (MNU), completed a five-week placement at the Health Protection Agency between 12 February and 23 March 2025.
With agency supervision, students participated in health promotion, disease prevention, outbreak response and community outreach activities. The placement allowed them to see how public health interventions are organised in practice and to apply classroom learning in a national health agency.
Learning alongside public health supervisors offers students an understanding of how prevention, surveillance and outreach are coordinated beyond the university.
The placement supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) through supervised, practice-based learning and SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by preparing students for disease prevention and public health work.
