Ilm an-Nafs Podcast Brings Psychological Knowledge to the Public

A 13-episode podcast series titled Ilm an-Nafs was produced by Dheenuge Adu (PSM) in association with the Maldives Association of Islamic Psychology (MAIP) from August to December 2025, providing the public with accessible discussions on psychology, mental health and wellbeing.

Ibrahim Ismail, a staff member of the Faculty of Health Sciences and a member of MAIP, served as a main contributor, content developer and co-presenter for the series. His involvement contributed psychological knowledge and perspectives to the development and delivery of the episodes.

Through its 13 episodes, Ilm an-Nafs created an accessible platform for sharing psychological knowledge beyond traditional academic and professional settings. The series supported greater public awareness of psychology, mental health and wellbeing while providing opportunities for listeners to engage with relevant concepts in an accessible format.

The collaboration between Dheenuge Adu (PSM) and MAIP also demonstrated the value of partnerships in extending the reach of psychological education. By using a podcast format, the initiative supported wider community engagement and knowledge sharing while contributing to greater public access to information related to psychology and mental wellbeing.

The initiative reflects FHS’s broader commitment to knowledge translation and community engagement, enabling academic and professional knowledge to reach audiences beyond the university.

The initiative contributed to SDG 4 (Quality Education) by expanding access to educational and psychological knowledge, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration between media and a professional association to support community knowledge sharing.
