Lunchtime Talk Series 2025 - Promoting Research Knowledge Exchange at MNU

The Lunchtime Talk is an initiative organized by the Research Development Office to strengthen the research culture at MNU by providing a platform for university staff to share research findings, experiences, methodologies, and good research practices with the wider university community. The programme promotes knowledge exchange, scholarly discussion, interdisciplinary learning, and research capacity development, while increasing awareness of research undertaken across the University. During 2025, 14 Lunchtime Talk sessions were conducted, covering a diverse range of research topics and approaches.

The 2025 Lunchtime Talk series covered a diverse range of research topics reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of research at MNU. The 14 sessions addressed areas including crime and social justice, health and well-being, marine science and bathymetry, language and literature, digital technology and education, mathematics education, marine plastic pollution, disaster risk and tsunami hazards, sea-level rise and climate adaptation, robotics in teaching and learning, gender equality in the tourism sector, and student well-being and career preparedness.

Collectively, the topics relate to several SDGs, particularly SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being, SDG 5 – Gender Equality, SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production, SDG 13 – Climate Action, SDG 14 – Life Below Water, and SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. The series also supports SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, particularly through the dissemination of outcomes from collaborative research. Overall, 2025 was a successful year for the programme, showcasing diverse research and strengthening MNU’s contribution to knowledge exchange in addressing key national and sustainability challenges.
