The Maldives National University (MNU) has launched the “MNU Future Ready Series,” a new monthly initiative aimed at helping school students explore their interests, strengths and future education and career pathways from an early stage.

The inaugural session was held with approximately 200 Grade 7 and Grade 8 students, providing an engaging platform for students to explore different careers, subject streams, higher education opportunities and the changing world of work.

The session encouraged students to look beyond examination results when considering their future and to reflect on their individual interests, strengths and aspirations. Through interactive activities, discussions and career-focused challenges, students were encouraged to consider what they enjoy, what they are good at and how these interests and abilities could connect to future education and career opportunities.

The MNU Future Ready Series will continue as a monthly programme, with sessions designed for different student groups and focused on supporting informed educational and career choices. Through the initiative, MNU aims to strengthen students’ understanding of higher education pathways and provide early exposure to the wide range of opportunities available through education and the world of work.

As part of the University’s commitment to making educational guidance more accessible, MNU also plans to extend the Future Ready Series to its Atoll Campuses, creating opportunities for students across the Maldives to access career guidance and learn more about higher education pathways within their communities.

The initiative contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education by supporting informed educational choices, career awareness and lifelong learning. It also contributes to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by helping young people explore career possibilities and develop aspirations for their future working lives. The planned expansion to the Atoll Campuses supports SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities by widening access to career and higher education guidance across the country.

Through collaboration with schools, MNU faculties, campuses and communities, the initiative further supports SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, strengthening partnerships that contribute to the educational and future development of young people.

Through the MNU Future Ready Series, the University aims to support young people in making informed decisions about their education and future, while strengthening their awareness of the diverse opportunities available through higher education and beyond.
