The five-day Professional Development Exposure Programme was held at Mahidol University, Thailand, from 4–8 August 2026. It aimed to strengthen public health education, research, and community engagement at MNU.The programme covered innovative teaching, simulation training, digital learning, and research supervision.It also addressed disease surveillance, health promotion, maternal and child health, and NCD prevention.Institutional and community visits provided practical insights and strengthened collaboration between the two universities.

Strengthened participants’ knowledge and skills in public health education, research, community engagement, and preventive healthcare.Introduced innovative teaching approaches, including simulation-based education, digital tools, virtual reality, and skills-based training.Enhanced the capacity of lecturers to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research and mentor students effectively.Provided practical insights into disease surveillance, public health emergency response, maternal and child health, and NCD prevention.
Demonstrated effective models of university–community collaboration and community-based health promotion.Supported the development of new initiatives at MNU, including efforts to establish FHS as a health-promoting faculty.Encouraged the adaptation of relevant Thai public health practices to the Maldivian context.Strengthened academic collaboration and knowledge exchange between The Maldives National University and Mahidol University.Created opportunities for future joint training, research, staff development, and institutional partnerships.
