The Maldives National University (MNU) was pleased to welcome Fulbright Specialist and Faculty of Education Emeritus Professor (Retired) Dr. Terence W. Cavanaugh, who visited the MNU Library today as part of his academic engagement with the University.

During his visit, Dr. Cavanaugh met with library staff and explored the University’s learning resources. His visit marks the beginning of a collaborative engagement with MNU, where he will contribute to teaching and learning, staff development, professional training, and research initiatives.

As part of his engagement, Dr. Cavanaugh will teach students, conduct professional development programmes for academic and professional staff, and support research and development activities. His expertise will further strengthen MNU’s academic initiatives and foster international collaboration in education, instructional technology, and innovation.

The MNU Library is also grateful for Dr. Cavanaugh’s generous donation of his published electronic books to the Library’s digital collection. This valuable contribution will enhance access to high-quality educational resources for students, faculty, and researchers, further enriching the University’s digital learning environment.

Dr. Cavanaugh is an Emeritus Professor of Instructional Technology at the University of North Florida’s College of Education and Human Services and serves as a Fulbright Specialist. His areas of expertise include curriculum design, instructional technology, assistive technology, English as a Second Language (ESL) education, and teacher education.

He holds degrees in science education and instructional technology and is certified to teach Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Earth Science, General Science, and Middle Grades Science. He is also a state-certified media specialist. Since 1998, Dr. Cavanaugh has served as a university educator, specializing in instructional technology, science, and science education, following a distinguished 17-year career as a secondary school teacher.

Throughout his career, Dr. Cavanaugh has taught science and technology in the United States, China, South Korea, Bahrain, Kuwait, Tuvalu, and across the Caribbean, bringing extensive international experience to his academic work.

A prolific author, Dr. Cavanaugh has published 15 books on integrating technology into education. His publications include a series of open educational resource (OER) books that integrate reading strategies with classic texts, as well as an open-source science textbook designed for middle and high school students, highlighting the science found in Florida.
