Chief Executive Officer of the Malé City Group of Hospitals Addresses the Importance of Nursing Excellence and Retention at MNU Graduation

At the Maldives National University’s April 2026 graduation ceremony (Session 1), Guest of Honour Mr. Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem emphasized the vital role of nursing as a cornerstone of the Maldivian healthcare system. He highlighted the need for dedication, compassion, and excellence in nursing education to improve patient care and public trust.

He also raised concerns about the shortage and low retention of local nurses, noting the increasing reliance on foreign staff due to limited local participation. Encouraging more Maldivians to join and remain in the profession, he stressed the importance of continuous skill development and specialization.

Mr. Haleem concluded by expressing gratitude to MNU’s leadership for their contributions to developing the nation’s healthcare workforce and supporting the sector’s rapid growth.
