The Electronic Waste Assessment, Community Research, and Education for he Environment (E-WASTE CARE) project is a key initiative by FC Frigator, supported through GEF-VESHI Grants, to tackle the growing challenges of e-waste management in Ihavandhippolhu Atoll.
The project, implemented across the islands of Thuraakunu, Uligan, Molhadhoo, and Hoarafushi, addresses one of the Maldives’ growing environmental challenges: the safe and sustainable management of electronic waste. Through a detailed baseline assessment and market analysis, the project identified the types, volumes, and sources of e-waste generated in the atoll, spanning households, shops, public institutions, and private sectors.
