Senior Lecturers Mohamed Shameem Adam and Shihanath Ibrahim participated in an online training programme titled “Leveraging NotebookLM AI for Engaging Teaching and Learning” on 10 November 2025. The programme was designed to enhance educators’ understanding and application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in educational practices.
The training focused on exploring the use of NotebookLM AI to support lesson preparation, improve teaching effectiveness, enhance learner engagement, and develop innovative approaches to teaching and learning. Participants gained insights into how AI-powered tools can be incorporated into educational practices while maintaining a responsible and purposeful approach to technology integration.
The programme contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4): Quality Education by strengthening educators’ digital competencies and promoting innovative, technology-enhanced, and learner-centred approaches to education. Enhancing teachers’ ability to use emerging digital tools can support the development of engaging and effective learning experiences.
The initiative also supports SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by encouraging the adoption of emerging technologies and digital innovation within teaching and learning. Building educators’ capacity to use AI tools contributes to the ongoing digital transformation of educational practices.
Furthermore, the training aligns with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by promoting knowledge sharing, professional learning, and collaboration through digital professional development opportunities. Online training programmes provide opportunities for educators to connect, exchange experiences, and strengthen their digital capabilities beyond traditional institutional settings.
