Senior Lecturer Conducts Study Skills and NotebookLM Session for Grade 10 Students

2 December 2025

Senior Lecturer Shihanath Ibrahim conducted a “Study Skills & NotebookLM Tool” session for Grade 10 students of GDh. Atoll Education Centre (GDh. AEC) on 14 October 2025. The session was designed to strengthen students’ academic success by developing effective study habits and introducing them to NotebookLM, an AI-powered learning tool that can support independent learning, note organisation, research, and revision.

During the session, students were guided on the responsible use of AI for learning, including how to use NotebookLM to summarise information, generate study materials, organise notes, and support revision and critical thinking. Particular emphasis was placed on maintaining academic integrity and using AI as a learning support tool rather than as a replacement for students’ own thinking and academic work.

The session also covered important study and examination preparation strategies, including time management, effective study habits, digital literacy, and approaches to improving learning outcomes. By combining traditional study skills with responsible use of emerging technologies, the session encouraged students to become more independent, confident, and digitally capable learners.

The initiative contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4): Quality Education by promoting inclusive, equitable, and technology-enhanced learning opportunities while strengthening students’ academic and digital skills. It also supports SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by encouraging the effective and responsible use of innovative digital technologies in education.

Furthermore, the session aligns with SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by equipping students with essential digital competencies, independent learning abilities, critical thinking skills, and technology awareness that can support their future education, employability, and participation in an increasingly digital world.

Through this initiative, Senior Lecturer Shihanath Ibrahim contributed to digital literacy, responsible AI use, academic development, and future-ready learning, supporting students in developing the skills and confidence needed for continued education and future opportunities.
