Senior Lecturer Conducts Study Skills and Career Guidance Sessions at Muhyiddin School

15 June 2025

Senior Lecturer Dr. Aminath Waseela conducted Study Skills Sessions for Grade 9 and Grade 10 students at Muhyiddin School on 15 June 2025. The sessions were designed to enhance students’ academic performance by strengthening essential study and independent learning skills.

The sessions focused on practical areas including effective study habits, time management, goal setting, note-taking, examination preparation, and independent learning. Students were also encouraged to develop critical thinking and self-confidence while adopting positive learning practices that can support their academic progress and lifelong learning.

In addition to study skills, the programme incorporated a career guidance component, enabling students to explore their interests, strengths, educational pathways, and future career opportunities. The guidance supported students in developing greater awareness of their options and making informed decisions regarding their academic and professional futures.

The initiative contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4): Quality Education by promoting inclusive and equitable learning opportunities and strengthening students’ academic, personal, and career development skills. Supporting students with both learning strategies and career awareness contributes to more holistic educational development.

The programme also aligns with SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by preparing young people with knowledge, competencies, self-awareness, and career awareness that can support future education, employment, and lifelong professional development.

Furthermore, the initiative supports SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening collaboration between higher education institutions and schools. Engagement between academic staff and school communities creates opportunities to share expertise and contribute to improved student learning, personal development, and career readiness.

Through these sessions, Dr. Aminath Waseela contributed to academic development, career awareness, independent learning, and student empowerment, reinforcing the importance of collaborative educational initiatives in preparing students for future learning and career opportunities.
