The Maldives National University (MNU) has opened registration for the pilot phase of the MNU Learning Festival (މަހާސަމާ), a workshop series developed under MNU’s Furaatha Programme and Lifelong Learning Policy to provide meaningful learning opportunities for children and young people through education, knowledge sharing, and community engagement. Registration for the programme is now open and will continue until 11th July 2026, while the programme itself is scheduled to be conducted from 19 July to 23 July 2026.
The Furaatha Programme has been designed to support the personal, educational, and social development of children and young people by creating enjoyable learning experiences that complement formal education. The initiative aims to strengthen learning skills and key literacies while encouraging curiosity, creativity, confidence, and a lifelong interest in learning among participants.
Participants will be grouped into three age categories: Category A (9–12 years), Category B (13–15 years), and Category C (16–18 years). The pilot programme consists of several key focus areas designed to support learner development across different dimensions, including Storytelling in Action, Vaahkaige Dhuniye, Islamic Values and Etiquette in Everyday Life, Innovate with Robotics, Exploring Numbers and Everyday Mathematics, Discovering Science Through Exploration, Building Wellbeing and Resilience, and Learning Smarter: Time and Study Skills.
Each workshop session has been designed as an interactive and engaging learning experience that incorporates hands-on activities, inquiry-based exploration, collaborative learning, and real-world applications. Sessions will be facilitated by MNU academic staff as part of the University’s outreach and community engagement initiatives.
The programme timetable includes daily workshop sessions from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with sessions scheduled throughout the week according to participant categories and focus areas. The programme will conclude with a closing ceremony on 23 July 2026.
Through this initiative, MNU continues its commitment to creating accessible learning opportunities and strengthening engagement with the wider community by fostering learning experiences that are meaningful, practical, and enjoyable.
