25 December 2024

On 25 December 2024, Dr. Sheena Moosa conducted a professional development (PD) session titled “Publishing in High-Impact Journals.” The session was designed to strengthen the knowledge and skills of academic staff in academic publishing, with particular emphasis on the processes and considerations involved in publishing research in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.

The session provided valuable guidance on developing research manuscripts, identifying suitable journals, understanding publication requirements, and enhancing the quality and visibility of academic research. Participants also gained insights into effective academic publishing practices that can support their research development and publication activities.

The Faculty Dean, together with lecturers from the Malé campus and other campuses, actively participated in the session. Their engagement contributed to an interactive professional learning environment, encouraging the sharing of experiences, knowledge, and good practices among academic staff.

The initiative contributes to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by strengthening academic capacity and promoting continuous professional learning and research development. It also supports SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure by encouraging research, innovation, and the dissemination of new knowledge. Furthermore, the session contributes to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through the development of professional and research-related competencies, while SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals is supported through knowledge sharing, academic networking, and collaborative professional engagement.
