The Maldives National University (MNU), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to train 1,500 allied health professionals under the Higher Education Programme (HEP) initiative. This partnership marks an important step towards strengthening local healthcare capacity and developing a skilled workforce to meet the country’s growing healthcare needs.
Through this collaboration, allied health training will be delivered locally, creating greater opportunities for Maldivians to pursue careers in essential healthcare fields. The programme will cover a range of disciplines, including physiotherapy, speech therapy, counselling, dietetics, radiography, community health and paramedicine, among others.
By expanding access to specialised training, the initiative aims to strengthen the availability of qualified healthcare professionals and support improved access to essential health services for communities across the Maldives. It also reinforces MNU’s commitment to advancing higher education in areas that address national development priorities.
