The Maldives National University (MNU), in collaboration with the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) and Villa College, proudly hosted the second project meeting of the DIGITAsia Consortium, an international higher education partnership dedicated to accelerating digital transformation in teaching and learning across Asia.

DIGITAsia focuses on empowering educators and institutions through targeted teacher training, curriculum innovation, and collaborative pilots aimed at enhancing digital capacity in higher education. The meeting in Malé marked a key milestone in concluding the teacher training pilot and preparing for the next phase of pilot implementation across partner universities.

The multi-country rollout will commence with universities in the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia, including the University of Peradeniya (UoP) and Sri Lanka Technological Campus (SLTC) in Sri Lanka, as well as Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

Key Outcomes of the Meeting

  • Agreed on a comprehensive implementation plan for the multi-country pilot, outlining timelines, cohort selection, mentoring structures, and monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
  • Ensured curriculum and assessment alignment with DIGITAsia’s overarching digital transformation goals and each country’s higher education priorities.
  • Strengthened cross-country collaboration and knowledge-sharing between Maldivian, Sri Lankan, and Malaysian partner institutions.
