The Maldives National University (MNU) has officially launched “MNU InnovateHub”, the first university-based business incubator in the Maldives. The initiative aims to support the development of innovative ideas, empower entrepreneurs, strengthen entrepreneurial skills among MNU students, assist in the establishment of new businesses, and provide targeted training and support. The programme was launched on 4 July 2024.
Speaking at the launch ceremony held at MNU, the University’s Vice Chancellor, Dr Aishath Shehenaz Adam, stated that MNU InnovateHub will provide students with valuable opportunities to develop additional skills, competencies, and practical entrepreneurial experience.
The Vice Chancellor further stated that students will be invited to submit project proposals, which will be reviewed through a structured evaluation process. Successful proposals will receive funding based on merit and potential impact.
Funding under MNU InnovateHub will be provided across three tiers, as follows:
Under this initiative, students will receive mentorship and guidance from MNU faculty as well as industry-relevant key professionals. The programme seeks to foster innovation that contributes to national development by encouraging collaboration between students, the University, industry partners, and the wider community.
