MNU-EDGE 2026 Brings MNU Academics Together to Advance Teaching Excellence and Innovation

06th October 2026

The Maldives National University (MNU) commenced MNU-EDGE 2026 today, bringing together 290 academic staff for a two-day symposium focused on strengthening teaching and learning through educational dialogue, innovation, and the sharing of effective practices.

The symposium was officially opened with a keynote address by Vice Chancellor Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam, who shared her vision for fostering a university community actively engaged in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). The keynote emphasised the importance of placing student learning at the centre of academic practice and encouraging academics to continuously reflect on and strengthen their approaches to teaching.

Held under the theme “Advancing Teaching Excellence Through Educational Dialogue and Innovation,” the symposium provides a platform for academics across The Maldives National University to exchange experiences, explore practical approaches to teaching and learning, and consider contextually relevant ways to enhance students’ educational experiences.

Over the two days, the symposium features 12 practice-sharing presentations highlighting effective and innovative teaching approaches, four live demonstrations introducing practical instructional techniques and learning tools, and 15 Learning Circles facilitating collaborative discussions on classroom experiences and challenges.

MNU-EDGE 2026 contributes to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by promoting innovative teaching practices and continuous professional development. It also supports SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure through the exploration of educational innovation and modern learning tools, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by strengthening collaboration and knowledge sharing across the University.

Through MNU-EDGE 2026, MNU continues to foster a culture of reflective practice, collaboration, and innovation, supporting academics in creating effective learning experiences for students.
