The Maldives National University (MNU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Art, marking a significant milestone in fostering collaboration between the nation’s leading higher education institution and a key government ministry dedicated to empowering young people.
The Memorandum of Understanding was officially signed by Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam, Vice Chancellor of MNU, and Mr. Ibrahim Waheed, Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Art. The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Ministry, and MNU Chancellor, Dr. Mahamood Shougee and Senior officials and staffs of MNU.
This partnership reaffirms MNU’s ongoing commitment to advancing national development through education, training, and capacity-building. Through the MoU, MNU will extend its expertise and institutional resources to support the Ministry in delivering high-quality programs that empower the youth of the Maldives and enhance professional standards across the creative and media sectors.
Under the agreement, MNU will make its facilities and academic resources available for training programs organized by the Ministry, provide technical assistance in developing programs aligned with the Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA) standards, and offer qualified facilitators for various training and on-the-job learning sessions.
Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Art will collaborate with MNU to support student recruitment and assist participants by covering a portion of program fees, particularly for media and arts-related courses. This mutual support framework aims to expand opportunities for Maldivian youth to pursue education and skills development in emerging creative industries.
Through this collaboration, both institutions aim to build a long-term, results-driven partnership that enhances youth empowerment, supports national human resource development goals, and contributes meaningfully to the Maldives’ social and economic advancement.
