The second batch of the “Marking and Moderation” workshop focused on strengthening academic staff’s assessment practices to support fair and reliable evaluation of student achievement.
The programme explored the application of shared marking criteria, differences in academic judgement and the role of moderation in addressing those differences. It also highlighted the importance of maintaining comparable assessment standards across student groups and over time.
By encouraging reflection on how assessment decisions are made, the workshop aimed to help academic staff apply consistent standards while giving students fair consideration of their work.
Its emphasis on professional development, equitable assessment and quality education supported ongoing efforts to strengthen academic practice and promote fairness in the student learning experience.
